Privacy policy
A short policy, because there is very little to describe: no account, no analytics, no cookies, no advertising scripts, and no third-party requests from any page on this site.
The short version
You can use every calculator and read every guide on this site without telling us who you are, and without anything being stored on your device. The only time this site learns anything about you is if you choose to send a message through the contact form — and then it learns what you typed, and nothing else.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the operator of this website: Andrew Tate, contactable at [FILL: real contact email] and at [FILL: operator’s legal contact address and country]. Hosting is provided by [FILL: hosting provider and processing region].
The calculators do not send your figures anywhere
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The arithmetic is performed by JavaScript loaded from portugalsorted.com, using rates published in the page itself. No salary, property value, income figure or budget you enter is transmitted to us, logged by us, or shared with anyone. There is no account, no save button and no server-side copy.
One consequence is worth understanding, because it surprises people. When you change an input, the tool writes your figures into the page address so that the link you copy reproduces the same result. That means the numbers are in your browser history, in the address bar, and — if you paste the link into a message or a forum — in whatever you pasted it into. A URL is not private the way a form submission is. If you would rather not leave a trail, clear the parameters by reloading the tool page before you share it.
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking
This site sets no cookies at all: not for preferences, not for statistics, not for advertising. It does not run Google Analytics or any equivalent, it does not embed third-party scripts, and it does not use pixels or fingerprinting. Fonts are served from portugalsorted.com rather than from a font CDN, images are served from portugalsorted.com, and the site's security policy blocks the browser from loading scripts or styles from anywhere else. That is why you have never seen a cookie banner here — there is nothing to consent to.
Because there are no cookies and no analytics, there is also no profile of your visit to sell, share or lose.
If you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, the subject of your message and the message itself. If your browser sends it, a referring page address may be included so a correction can be traced to the right guide. That is the whole list.
- Why we process it: to read your message and reply to it. Where your message is a correction to published material, we also have a legitimate interest in keeping a record of the change.
- Who processes it: the message is delivered by Resend, an email delivery service, and then sits in an ordinary mailbox controlled by the site operator. Resend processes the content on our instructions as a processor; it is a US-based service, so messages are transferred outside the EU/UK for delivery.
- How long it is kept: replies and messages are kept for as long as they are useful — normally until the question is answered and any correction is made. You can ask for yours to be deleted at any time and it will be.
- What we never do with it: no newsletters, no marketing lists, no selling or sharing with anyone else, and no using your message as a testimonial without asking you first.
Please do not send identity documents, tax returns, bank statements or contracts. There is no client file here, nothing is stored securely enough for that kind of material, and no reply you receive is advice you can rely on.
Spam protection and rate limiting
Two things happen when the contact form is submitted. A hidden field that only automated submissions fill in is checked; if it is filled, the message is silently discarded. And the server counts submissions from the same connection, allowing five per hour, so that the form cannot be used to flood the mailbox. That counter is held in the server's memory for an hour and is never written to a database. It uses the connecting IP address, which is not stored alongside anything that identifies you.
Server logs
The application itself writes no access log: it does not record which pages are visited, by whom, or with which parameters. The hosting provider, [FILL: hosting provider and processing region], may keep standard connection logs for security and reliability under its own policy. If you self-host or move the site, that arrangement changes and this section must be updated to match.
Your rights
If European or UK data protection law applies to you, you have the right to ask for a copy of any personal data held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to ask for it in a portable format. In practice the only personal data this site could hold about you is an email you sent us. Ask at [FILL: real contact email] and you will get an answer within a month.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD, or — if you are in the UK — to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is written for adults planning an international move. It is not directed at children, it does not knowingly collect anything from them, and there is no feature on it that a child could use to send us personal data unintentionally beyond the contact form itself.
Advertising, if it is ever introduced
There is no advertising on this site today: no ad scripts, no sponsored content, no affiliate links. If display advertising is introduced later, this policy will be rewritten before any ad script goes live, because advertising is the one change that would introduce cookies, third-party requests and consent obligations where none exist now. The ads.txt file in the site root is a placeholder for exactly that possibility; its presence does not mean advertising is running.
Changes to this policy
When something in this policy changes, the review date at the top changes with it. If the change is material — a new processor, a new purpose, advertising — it will also be noted on the page rather than quietly edited.
If any sentence in this policy ever stops being true of the site, the policy is right and the site is wrong. Say which sentence and it gets fixed.
